So, I’ve been seeing this PRADA Re-Edition 2000 bag all over the place lately. You know, the one that all the cool people, like Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid, are carrying around? Yeah, that one. It’s like, suddenly popular again, and I really wanted it for myself.
I got this idea in my head that I was going to make my own. I mean, why not? I had some free time and a whole lot of determination. So, I looked up the bag online, just to get a better idea of what I was dealing with. It’s a pretty simple design, but it has this classic PRADA vibe that’s just so cool.
First, I needed to gather my materials. I found a similar style of nylon and went to buy some, and I also needed to figure out the whole zipper situation. I rummaged through my storage boxes and, luckily, I found an old bag with a zipper that I could repurpose. And for the PRADA logo, I had to get creative. I ended up printing out a version of it on some thick paper and cutting it out carefully. It wasn’t perfect, but it did the trick!
Then came the actual making of the bag. I started by cutting the nylon into the right shape, using the measurements I found online as a guide. I’m not going to lie, it was a bit tricky, and I definitely messed up a few times. But I kept at it, and eventually, I had the basic shape of the bag sorted out.
Next up was sewing. I hauled out my old sewing machine, which I haven’t used in ages, and got to work. Sewing the nylon was way harder than I thought it would be. It kept slipping and sliding, and my stitches were all over the place. But, after a lot of trial and error, and maybe a few curse words, I managed to sew the pieces together. It wasn’t the prettiest sewing job, but it was holding!
Then I had to figure out the zipper, and let me tell you, that was a whole other challenge. I ended up having to take apart the old bag completely to get the zipper out. After hours of struggling, I finally got the zipper sewn onto my bag. It wasn’t perfect, but it zipped and unzipped, and that’s all that mattered.
- Cutting the nylon
- Sewing the pieces together
- Attaching the zipper
- Adding the logo and strap
The last step was attaching my homemade PRADA logo and adding a strap. I glued the logo onto the front of the bag, and for the strap, I used an old belt that I cut to size and sewed onto the sides. And just like that, after hours of work, a few mishaps, and a whole lot of patience, my homemade PRADA Re-Edition 2000 bag was finally finished! It’s not an exact replica, of course, but I’m pretty proud of it. It’s unique, it’s mine, and it has that PRADA look that I was going for.
I wore it out the other day, and I have to say, I felt pretty darn proud of myself. Sure, it’s not the real deal, but it’s special in its own way. And who knows, maybe I started a new trend! DIY PRADA, anyone?
