Hey guys, so, I got this wild hair to try and remake a Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100R-010. Yeah, I know, sounds nuts, right? But just hear me out on this one.

First off, I started digging around, because, you know, getting my hands on a real one of these is like winning the lottery, but harder. The waiting lists are insane, and they’re super exclusive. Anyway, I did a bunch of research on this Gondolo 7042/100R-010 model.

It turns out, this watch is basically a piece of jewelry. We’re talking 18K red gold, a gold bracelet, the works. And the dial? Forget about it. It’s covered in diamonds. It’s flashy, it’s classy, it’s everything you’d expect from a Patek Philippe.

So, I started hunting for parts. Let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. I scoured the internet, called up some watch guys I know, and even visited a few sketchy shops (don’t ask). Finding the right materials that even came close to the real deal was a real pain. But, after, and I mean after the hard time, I had the materials.

  • The Case: I managed to find a decent 18K red gold case. Not perfect, but it had the right shape and feel.
  • The Bracelet: This was tough. Getting a bracelet that matched the original’s quality was pretty much impossible. I settled for something that looked okay but was way lighter.
  • The Dial: Diamonds, man. Real diamonds were out of the question. I ended up using some high-quality cubic zirconia. They sparkle, but it’s not the same, you know?
  • The Movement: Okay, I cheated here. I just used a reliable quartz movement. No way I was going to recreate a Patek Philippe movement, I’m not a miracle worker.

Then came the assembly. I spent days, maybe weeks, putting this thing together. My hands were cramped, my eyes were strained, and I nearly threw the whole thing out the window a few times. But I stuck with it. Slowly but surely, the watch started to take shape.

And you know what? It wasn’t half bad! Sure, it wasn’t a real Patek Philippe Gondolo, not by a long shot. But it looked pretty good, especially from a distance. It had a nice weight to it, and the cubic zirconia did a decent job of mimicking the diamond sparkle.

The End Result

So, there you have it, my crazy attempt at remaking a Patek Philippe Gondolo 7042/100R-010. Was it worth it? Honestly, I’m not sure. It was a ton of work, and it’s definitely not something I’d recommend unless you’re really, really bored and have a lot of time on your hands. But hey, it was an experience, right? And now I have a pretty cool-looking watch, even if it’s just a “homage,” as they say. If you are thinking to have one, you should do a lot of research.

Anyway, that’s my story. Hope you enjoyed my little adventure. Catch you guys later!
