Alright, so, I’ve been wanting to get my hands on this Patek Philippe Calatrava watch, the 6119G-001, for a while now. I mean, this thing is just beautiful. Finally, I decided to go for it and try to remake it.

First, I started digging around for information. Found out that this watch is pretty pricey, like over 30 grand! But, that didn’t stop me. I was determined to make my own version.

I started by sketching out the design. This watch is 39mm in diameter and about 8.08mm thick. Pretty sleek, right? I made sure to get all the measurements just right. It’s a manual winding watch, which means you gotta wind it yourself. Old school, but I like it.

Next, I started gathering the materials. I needed some white gold for the case, just like the original. I managed to find a supplier online that sells watch parts. Score!

  • Designing Phase:
    • Spent hours studying images of the 6119G-001.
    • Sketched the design, focusing on the 39mm diameter and 8.08mm thickness.
    • Noted the manual winding mechanism – adds to the charm.
  • Material Gathering:
    • Sourced white gold for the case, similar to the original.
    • Found an online supplier for other watch parts.
  • Assembly:
    • Carefully assembled the watch, piece by piece.
    • This was the most challenging part, required a lot of patience.
  • Testing:
    • Wound the watch and checked if it kept time accurately.
    • Made a few adjustments here and there.
  • Final Touches:
    • Polished the case to give it that shiny, new look.
    • Added a leather strap to complete the classic look.

Then came the hard part – putting it all together. I had to be super careful with all the tiny parts. I used a magnifying glass and some tweezers. It took me a few tries, but I finally got it. It is really hard work, you know.

After I assembled the watch, I had to test it. I wound it up and watched it tick away. It was keeping time perfectly! I made a few adjustments to the hands and the crown, just to make sure everything was smooth.

Finally, I polished the case to make it all shiny and new. I added a nice leather strap to complete the look. And there it was, my very own homemade Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119G-001. It’s not the real deal, but it’s pretty darn close.

My Homemade 6119G-001 Result

I’m really proud of how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And the best part is, I made it myself. It’s a great feeling to wear something you’ve created with your own hands. I might even try to make another one, maybe a different model next time. Who knows? The possibilities are endless!
