Alright, let’s talk about this watch I’ve been messing around with. I saw this picture of a Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119G-001 online, and I thought, “Hey, I can probably make something like that.” It’s got this classic look, you know? Simple, but fancy at the same time. White gold, they say. And those little lines around the edge, they call it a “Clous de Paris” bezel.
So, I got to work. I didn’t have any white gold lying around, obviously, but I found some materials that could work. I’m not trying to make a perfect copy, just something that captures that same vibe. It is a challenging task, I can tell you that. The first step I took was research. I spent hours online, looking at pictures of the 6119G-001, trying to understand how it’s put together.
Breaking Down the Design
The dial was the next thing. I wanted that clean, simple look of the original. This Calatrava, it’s all about being understated, not flashy. I sketched out a few designs, played around with some different materials, and finally settled on something I was happy with. It’s not exactly the same, but it’s got that same kind of elegance, I think.
Now, that bezel, the one with the little lines, that was a real pain. I tried a few different techniques, but it was hard to get it just right. It is not easy to replicate that kind of detail. It’s those little details that make this watch special. I kept at it, though. I wasn’t going to give up that easily.

This Calatrava 6119G, it’s a new watch, but it looks old. Like those old-timey watches your grandpa might have worn. And you know what? I kind of like that. It’s got character. And it is a good experience to remake a Patek Philippe.
So, yeah, that’s my little project. It was a lot of work, but I’m happy with how it turned out. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine. And who knows, maybe one day I’ll even try to make another one. Maybe I will try to remake the Nautilus next time. But the “Clous de Paris” bezel, I think I will pass on that next time.
