Today, I tried to get my hands on a Jaeger-LeCoultre JLC Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar from a specialty store. It’s been on my radar for a while. I’ve seen some chatter online, folks talking about different versions and some knock-offs, but I wanted the real deal.
I walked into the store, and man, the vibe was something else. Everything was neat, and shiny, and I felt a bit out of place. But I spotted the JLC section and made my way over there. They had a few models, but my eyes were on the Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar. I’d read somewhere that it’s been updated in 2024, so I was curious.
- I asked the salesperson about it, and they showed me the rose gold one with an eggshell dial. Looked pretty slick, to be honest.
- They also mentioned it comes in different versions. I didn’t catch all the details, but I think there were three variants or something.
- Size-wise, it’s 39mm wide and 9.4mm thick. Felt good on the wrist, not too bulky.
The salesperson was going on about how Jaeger-LeCoultre makes everything in-house, in some valley in Switzerland. Sounds fancy, but I was more interested in the watch itself. I also remembered reading somewhere that JLC watches don’t really go up in value. Bummer, but it’s not like I’m planning to flip it or anything. I just liked the look and the whole perpetual calendar thing.
What did I learn today?
I learned that these watches are not as easy to get my hand on as I hoped. But I also learned a lot more about it, the prices, the make, the brand itself. I still want it though. But I decided to hold off on buying it for now. Gotta think about it some more, maybe save up a bit. It’s a big purchase, you know? Plus, I want to check out some other watches too. Never hurts to explore your options, right?
So yeah, that was my day trying to get a JLC Master Ultra Thin Perpetual Calendar. Didn’t walk out with one, but I’ll be back. Maybe. Who knows.
