This watch, you see, it’s somethin’ else. They call it the OMEGA Speedmaster Apollo 8 “Dark Side of the Moon”. Sounds fancy, huh? But it’s really somethin’ to look at, I tell ya.
Big and Black, Just Like the Night Sky
This here watch, it’s big. Not too big for a man’s wrist, but it ain’t one of them tiny things. It’s 44.5 mm, whatever that means. Just know it’s a good size. And it’s black, black as the night sky when there ain’t no moon. They say it’s made of ceramic. Sounds like somethin’ you’d make a pot out of. But it’s strong, I reckon.
It’s thinner now, too. They shaved off a little bit. 13 mm, they say. Makes it sit better on your wrist, I suppose. All these numbers, it’s enough to make your head spin! But the point is, it’s a good lookin’ watch.
Seein’ the Moon Up Close
Now, this here watch, it’s got somethin’ special. It’s made to remember them astronauts that went to the moon. Apollo 8, they called it. Back in ’68, a long time ago. These fellas were the first ones to see the other side of the moon. The dark side. Can you imagine?
So this watch, it’s got a picture of the moon on it. Not a real picture, mind you. But it looks like the moon, all bumpy and with craters. They say they used a laser to make it look like that. Fancy stuff! The hand that tells the seconds, it looks like a rocket. Like the Saturn V rocket, it took them up to the moon.

It’s like lookin’ at the engine of a car, but way smaller. And way more complicated. I wouldn’t know how to put all that back together!
They got a fancy number for the insides, too. 3869. And they say it’s related to another number, 3861. Like they’re cousins or somethin’. Again, it’s all a bit much for me. Now, I wouldn’t wear this watch to do chores, no sir. This is a watch for lookin’ at. A watch for showin’ off. A watch for rememberin’ them brave fellas that went to the moon. It’s a Classic Style watch.
